    Executive Desk

I just put the finishing touches on an executive desk for a customer. I would have not thought to use these two woods together, but the customer wanted Sapele and Cherry. I used Potassium Dichromate on both to get the dark, rich tones out. The final finish was simply with tung oil and a wipe on poly. Kinda makes my workbench look small....

Very nice, I have a pedestal desk that I made 15-20 years ago and daily use has taken a toll on the top, which was made with a frame of 5/4 oak with 1/4 oak ply panels flushed up with the frame. (a Woodsmith plan) Have planned on redoing the top, never was thrilled with the plywood. Your top looks like solid wood, which I would like to use, how did you allow for seasonal wood movement, if I might ask. Thanks, again, nice piece.

The choice of woods look very good together. The finish really makes the grain "pop".
    Nice job.

The two woods together are rather uplifting, it looks very ‘with it’. Like it a lot.
