    Any Creekers near Portland, Maine?

Today I'm heading up to Portland on business for a few days and would love to meet-and-greet another SMC'r face-to-face.

    Rob,

If you like hand tools at all, drive up to Lie Nielsen near Warren and tour the factory. Bring your wallet and leave your wife at home.

If you like Shaker stuff, go see CH Becksvoort's shop, but call ahead and make sure he is there. He does not mind if you drop in, just don't tell long stories about yourself. He will answer questions if you ask. I could listen to him for hours.

Dave Anderson is not too far from Portland in NH. Perhaps you could stop and see him on the way up or back. I've been trying to make it back up there, but the schedulers just did away with the weekend layovers in Portland.

If you go to LL Bean, just up the street is the Thomas Moser store. Worth a look, and don't forget to touch the furniture. They use a BLO and wax finish that it nice to feel. So does Chris, now that I mention it. Not surprising, since he used to work for Moser.

I love Maine, but don't get there often enough.

    Enjoy your visit.
