    Engraving on Soft Woods

    Hi,

I'm new to the game. I'm curious to know if western red cedar board would be a good wood to engrave designs on. Is there another soft wood that would be better?

    Thanks!

Welcome to this forum Ferris. If you look up to the right top of the screen, you will find the search field. You will find many threads relating to cedar. Sit down, relax and have a good read through this forum!
I read recipes the same way I read science fiction. I get to the end and I think, "Well, that’s not going to happen."

Cedar of all kinds engraves well in my experience. I especially like aromatic cedar. I recently finished a commercial project engraving a logo using rough cut red cedar and my customer was quite pleased. Sorry I can't post a picture.
