    Jewellery Box

The latest project - a Jewellery Box (late Christmas present) has finally been completed. The box design was inspired by an antique Mah Jong set we have while the front of the drawers was inspired by a piece made by David Barron (UK). The box is made from Oak, while the drawer fronts are made from a piece of White Cedar. The drawers slide on runners made from Celery Top Pine. Each drawer is lined with a different colour felt collected by my wife, a Quilter, on our 2015 Canada/US trip. I was fearful that she may not have enough jewellery to fill the trays, but that fear has been allayed.

Nice work Peter! Great woodwork, and I really enjoy the liners, they're nicely done.

    Interesting piece.

I like the grain on the drawer fronts.

Thanks for the kind words ....much appreciated. One of the tricky parts of the project was to get the grain pattern of the drawer fronts to line up; that is , once we had worked out how to make best use of the bookmatching process.

Beautiful piece Peter! I particularly like the different colored felt in each drawer. That you and your wife did it together makes it all the better!

    Thanks for posting.

Thanks for posting--I too like the front with both vertical and horizontal lines. The color inside is a delightful surprise.
