I got a quart of "Wood River pure tung oil" from one of the local WW'ing stores. It's in a plastic bottle so you can squeeze the air out of the bottle. I got it last summer (I think) and it's been sitting in on the shelf in the shop unopened, since I had an open pint can I was still using. I use the tung oil for concocting various oil and varnish mixtures.

I noticed about an inch of white precipitate in the bottom a while back. I dumped it into a coffee can to stir it up, but the particles settled out immediately and didn't re-dissolve in response to stirring. The remaining liquid is clear amber. I'm thinking the particles/precipitate might be cured oil and I'm tempted to just decant/filter it out and use the remaining liquid. I'm not inclined to take it back to the store because it's 50+ miles away and the people working there seem to know even less about woodworking than my students.

Thanks,
Dave
