Thread: Farm Table Design and Questions

  1. #16
Last questions before I start. I had an issue with my legs for the table. I was suppose to have 4x4 walnut. I ended up getting 2 3/4 x 5. What should I do with this? I think making it a 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 leg would be too skinny for this size table. Should I make it a 2 3/4 on the short end of the table and a 4 in the long end? Any suggestions on best appearance?

My apron is a 1 1/4 x 5. Is the 5 too big? Should I make it a 4? I just don't know appearance wise what I should do. Then for my tenon: I calculated my tenon to be 7/8 inch thick, 2 inch length, and 2 1/2 inch width. Does that sound ok?

Thanks again for all the advice. I hope to send pictures soon!

When you consider the apron width, just make sure there will be plenty of leg room when seated at the table. There are "standards" published on the web...
    Good luck with the build!
