    Plane Adjusting Mallet

I've been making wooden planes and they adjust by tapping the iron or the back of the plane body. I was using a small brass mallet with Ebony faces but it was leaving dents in the plane body. So, I made another small mallet from Hickory. I drilled a 3/4" hole from both ends of the head and filled it with lead shot. The handle is Hickory sapwood and the head is Hickory heartwood, as is the wedge in the handle end.

That's a nice looking tool Cody.
Does the hickory dent the wooden plane bodies like the Ebony did?

I haven't used the mallet enough yet to find out. I had just finished making it when I posted the pics.
