Thread: Oak Angel

    Oak Angel

This 9" one piece oak angel got wrapped up today. There'll be 3 looking left and 3 right. I included a pic of my thumb for reference as the face is rather small to hold detail like the 1/8th inch eye, eyelid etc. considering oaks grain. But it's in there.

Extraordinary detail for that small size and coarse oak. The faces have personality. I especially like the robe folds.

Thanks guys. Yeah,,, you can push oak further than you'd imagine. Just takes some time . And a this scale you shear off a few hundredths and you make or break an eye , mouth or nose . Bigger pieces are much easier. A sixteenth on a life size carving is minimal. On this it's the nose !
They will look similar to this.

Very nice once again Mark! Working in oak with detail on such small scale requires finesse cuts a little less speed. If anyone can do it you would be the one.

Your angle looks more "Angelic" than the other one shown.

That is awe-inspiring man! The fact it's in oak is even impressive.
