    Nova Comet II

Question: does anyone have any hands on experience with this lathe? Good or not so good. They would be used for hands on, one-on-one teaching/mentoring for our club members.

Yes, I have one and find it useful for beginner turners. I do not let beginners use my Powermatic 3520B until after doing time on the little Comet. You can see a post review I did on mine and some modifications to make it better. Without the modifications, it lacks some stability and the low speed power (belt issue) does not seem to have an answer. It makes a nice size travel lathe. The newer Rikon has a lot more features, power, and might be another lathe to consider.
