I read that the maintenance & upkeep on a supercar can be 30k a year.

My recollection is the California Highway patrol decided the Porsche Boxter was a great pursuit vehicle and ordered a couple hundred.

AMC Pacer, a cheaper alternative. 0-60 in 2.5 minutes.

They actually make models of the Freetown AMC police car. I googled it and it sounds like a local company donated the AMC to the town around 2000 for a DARE car. The department ended up giving the car back to the donor later in the decade because they lost the state funding for the DARE program. It appears the donor or a collector has the car now.

I only posted the pic because my SIL had a 1978 Pacer and it was the most ill handling car I have ever driven. It wallowed around corners like a boat and the inline 6 was horribly underpowered.
It did have great visibility through all that glass though.

I agree with Bruce on how it handled. I had one years ago and it was like driving a bubble around.

We had one of those, 0-60 in 2 1/2 minutes? I think you're being overly optimistic On the other hand, it made it thru 2 teen drivers.

I dealt with a customer once - a painting contractor - that thought his Pacer was a 1 ton van.
It was obscene the amount of material he'd pack into that thing!
