Yes I have seen them. You might like to try Rockler's Bandy Clamps http://www.rockler.com/search/go?w=bandy%20clamp, I have picked up some attachments from Peechtree woodworking http://www.ptreeusa.com/clamp_edge.htm and the Bessy you have. Dan

Before deciding they wouldn't work, did you scroll down to see the Bessey one hand edge clamps below the stretchy clamps in the Peachtree link Dan Rude provided above? Too expensive perhaps, but "won't work" doesn't sound right.

I believe Select Machinery still sells the upscale version (Kantenfix,). I would be interested in a less expensive version but not one that didn't work as well (an unlikely combination). I seem to recall that Woodcraft sold the small size knockoff for a time.

Bessey makes a different variety than those pictured. They have yellow handles and are about 20% to 40% the cost of the red handled variety. You get a set of five for $47.13 (1.75" variety) or $92.93 (3" variety).

They may not be available anymore. Mine have plastic handles and at the time were $10. Now all I see have wood handles and are $45+.

Actually, they are the same but for the handle color, and the price appears to be per piece for orders of 5 or more. Select Machinery has a slightly lower price listed (
    http://www.selectmachineryinc.com/product.aspx?product=15).

Jack, these may be what you are looking for (http://www.smarttools.com.tw/products/Clamp/EdgeClamps.html). No price listed though.

The Gross Stabil clamps are a good investment once you get over the sticker shock. The large ones are more useful.

There all going to be high in price which is the reason I'm looking for the ones I have.

It's an investment for the company as the edge clamps were faster than the pipe, but they have to weigh the difference between labor and cost. On this project I had to wrap white oak on a metal laminated table substrate for tilted Kilt. There were only 6 tables but with only 10 edge clamps I was only able to clamp two ends. Not productive...image_kilt002_large.jpg

That sort of edging is where the larger Gross Stabil clamps work well. Because of their greater throat depth you can use a wider caul and fewer clamps.

Let us know if you find a better value alternative.
