    New Dovetail Gauges

I've been keeping myself busy lately making tools and such.

These are dovetail gauges based on the design used by Paul Sellers. Made from 6061 Alumimum...could've been cast iron...just decided to use aluminum.
    3.5" long, 1.25" wide. 3/4" thick. 1:7 pitch.

I use a Precision Matthews PM-25MV. It's a small, benchtop machine. Well...it's small...but as benchtop mills go, it's one of the larger ones. I really like it. I've had it for about 7 months and I've made quite a few parts on it. Having used larger Bridgeports for most of my life, it's a change, but you get used to it. You have to remember that a smaller machine IS a smaller machine. It's only 320 pounds...not 2000 pounds. Most of the work I do can fit on this machine, not all, but most. Another pending project of mine didn't fit...so I had to send a few parts out to be cut. But we'll get to that in a new thread!
