Finally getting rid of the offending tear out - And making full width shavings while traversing a particularly figured piece of BLM ---- --- and getting down to just real shallow toothing plane tracks left. The good old Type 11 Stanley and LV blade / CB combo is treating me well today. More to follow. A live edge coffee table in the works----- with a couple of twists.

Great work. If you don't mind answering... what is your sharpening technique, how close is the chipbreaker, and how tight is the mouth?

Thanks - hollow grind on a hand crank grinder, Shapton Glass stones, 1000 FB 8000 and the CB is a gnat's eyelash from the leading edge of the blade.
Just taking a breather. Got rid of the toothing plane tracks; on to my Krenov style jointer to finish up.

This is the final shavings I am looking for. Trying to get to finishing without sanding- may resort to a little scraping -

Congrats. I am on the same quest. Nice to hear you did it with a few workhorse tools too. Goes to show its the musician as much as the instrument.

Dovetails are great! Beautiful piece of wood, and nice plane work. Look forward to seeing it completed.

    Thanks Phil.
I will likely send a WIP in Projects - it is nearly done- just fitting the drawer with ' let go '.

It is for a juried Art Show in a couple weeks.

Need to send in the final submittal photos - back to the Shop.

    Thomas -

Thanks for the kind words - the plane is a LN 102 in White Bronze - engraved by Layne Zeulke from Baton Rouge - it is so sweet that it photobombs the odd time - it is a daily user when I am woodworking - a real gem.

    More to follow - -
