Bummer! I have shapton pros 1,000 5,000 & 12,000. All from Stu and use them in an unconditioned space that ranges -15 F to 100+ F. Store dry and only have ever spritzed with water. Have had for 4 years, no troubles. Good luck.

I've had a Sigma II 6K stone (from Stu) for 4? 5? years and no signs of cracking at all. It is not mounted on anything, stored usually on its side, occasionly left soaking overnight or even a day or two before remembering to remove it from its water tub.

Same here. I'm on my second, no sign of cracking or other breakage.
