Cool Just a simple little box of Cherry

Resaw some boards of Cherry, hand cut some finger joints, make a raised panel for the top.....Just a small, simple box...

Brass plated laych to close the lid
    back and side.jpg
Some brass hinges for the back.

Three coats of finish....1st, BLO/Varnish, mixed @ 70/30, then two coats of a clear gloss varnish, with a rubbing out after each. Needs the final rub down before the delivery, next Sunday...

Nice. What did you use for the bottom?

Bottom was a glue up of some pine 1xs I had on hand..

And used a Stanley 45 to add tongues on the sides. They match the groove the same plane made( different cutter) in the sides.

This box is a great example of beauty-in-simplicity. The wood, the proportions, and the finish make a beautiful heirloom!
