    D23 and D12 saw plates

    I don't know if anyone is interested besides me, but:

    The saw plates are the same shape and dimensions. I find it interesting that Disston made two models apparently the same.

    The D 12 is popularly said to be the best Disston saw. Also, the D-23 saw was a top line saw in the 60's(?).

    The attached photo shows both plates, one upon the other. The one on top is the D-23. I've considered the D-23 to be a top of the line saw. The D-12 is heralded as being the premium saw. In the photo, the D-23 is on top. The hole patterns are nearly identical.

    I think towards the end Disston simplified their manufacturing as much as possible to survive. Probably had one cutting die for both, maybe others as well
