Confused about wood floor cleaners / oils

Quick question, at the supermarket I often see products meant to clean & restore wood floors that contain oil (like Murphy's oil), yet aren't most wood floors finished with polyurethane making it impossible for said oil or other additives to soak into the wood? Or is the assumption that at that point the poly wore off and you're treating bare wood that's been worn out?

Marketing ploy...or they assume the oil will wipe off except where the floor is scratched/damaged (hence the restore part).

good point. I use the stuff from method. it works well and makes the floors look very nice. the oil can't really hurt as ours are pre-finish and it will help keep the joints sealed. also, it smells pretty nice.

Its not really oil its it? I think its soap made from oil.

<edit> checked their website. answer to the FAQ "Is there any oil in Murphy's Oil Soap" : No, there is no oil in Murphy ® Oil Soap. Although Pine oil is used as the raw material, once the ingredients are transformed into soap, no "free oil" remains in the final product.
