    Looking for a small chuck

I have 3 nova G3's. The smallest jaws will clamp onto a 2" tenon. The pin jaws aren't what I need. I would like something that would do in the 1"+ range. I had a bulldog chuck for a short while..(and really liked it)..but had problems with it and returned it.
Does anyone know of another make/manufacturer/choice that I have not found yet?? Or suggestion??

Vicmarc long nose jaws go down to 7/8". And their chucks are the best. IMHO

    Hi Gary,

It looks like Teknatool offers jaws for your Nova G3 that would work for your purposes. What you need to search for are "spigot jaws." See these: http://www.teknatool.com/products/ch...ies/Spigot.htm. If those aren't small enough, they also offer mini spigot jaws that will grip a tenon from 0.32" to 1.18".

If you really want a new chuck, Oneway offers spigot (-aka- #1) jaws for their Talon chuck that would work for your purposes. Apparently, they can grip a tenon from 1/4" to 1 3/4". https://www.amazon.com/Spigot-Jaws-O.../dp/B002K9Z4KK My workhorse chuck is the Oneway Stronghold Chuck, and I have the Number 1 jaws for it, which will grip a tenon from 1/2" to 2". I use them frequently for turning small bowls.

I have the vicmarc 120 and I am very happy with it. If I didn't have so many g3's, I'd look at the vicmarc 100.
I must have missed something that is available for the g3. I'm going to call today and more than likely place an order. Maybe even for 2 sets.
    Thanks guys.

I like the 35mm spigot jaws but they only close down to 1 -3/8.
This pic is from Stuart Ablett where he made jaw inserts. I even ordered some 1.5" derlin rod to make some smaller spigots for my 35mm spigot jaws but have never got around to it.
You may also want to look at Nova's "soft jaws" where you can turn the spigot any diameter you wish.

Take a look at the little Apprentice chuck at Craft Supply. It has several jaws and range for a decent price.

Look at the 1 3/8" (35mm) Standard jaws from Record Power that are fully compatible with the Teknatool jaw fixings. I know CSUSA sells them. https://www.woodturnerscatalog.com/p...rd+power+chuck No reason to get another chuck.

+1 to the OneWay Talon chuck with spigot jaws. I have the Talon with the #2 serrated jaws and love it. Looks like you can get the spigot jaws that go from 1/4 inch to 1 and 3/4 inch in compression mode in either serrated or smooth versions to better suit your needs when using it in expansion mode.

    Serrated - https://www.amazon.com/Spigot-Jaws-O...lon+chuck+jaws
    Smooth - https://www.amazon.com/Oneway-3239-S...lon+chuck+jaws
Talon Chuck without insert - https://www.amazon.com/ONEWAY-Talon-...ay+talon+chuck

Look around and you may be able to find a special on chuck body only and then choose the jaws you want.
