Most Useful Tool Question

An extremely elderly neighbor of the farm came to visit. While working in the garage, he asked what my two or three most useful tools were. I said the hammer, the handsaw, and measure. I warned that would be incomplete. He then pointed at all the power tools and battery powered hand tools at the farm and said, "then why do you have all those contraptions?"
