    Mortise Machine question

I have a Delta mortise machine (Bench Top). What is best to use if anything to lube the gearing (teeth) for raising and lowering the chisel? Mine is about 12 years old and I have never lubed it. Seems to be a little stiffer than it used to be. Thank you, Sean

Any commonly available wheel bearing or similar grease will work. You don't need much. Excess will just collect dust. Smear a bit on the slides as well. It works on mine. Cheers

Something else to check is the strut. Mine developed a leak and lost its pressure. It seems using it twice in 10 years wasn't enough to keep the seals good!
