    This mornings rough out

Two bags of curls and chips to whittle this 80 pound blank of Norway maple into a bowl blank. The blank had issues, but as I tired it it kept reveling its character and features. Twisted grain, fiddle gain and color change. It has some cracking and water damage (may have been hit by lighting). It measures 18" across and 4" deep.

Great looking piece of wood--stay with it. How do you plan to season it?

I'll seal it with Anchor Seal and put it in a lawn trash bag. Then is will set in the garage till Christmas and then in the basement. Should be dry but March. We have a kiln at our turning club, but rushing it may open the cracks more.
