Chris, I guess the inches of water lift help tremendously with a small port like this (more than the amount of air being moved), small cutoffs get easily sucked into the dust bin if I don't partially close the slide gate.
Those little anemometers are not the most accurate, I'll give you that, but it gives me a pretty good idea of what works and what doesn't.
Now to my setup, the 80mm flex hose (3" should work too) plugs into a 3" - 2" rubber Fernco coupler and a length of tapered shop vac wand, cut to fit, plugs into the bottom of the Fernco coupler and the dust port on the blade guard. The flex hose itself, roughly 5' long, is suspended from the ceiling with a couple of light chains and screen door springs to keep it snug and straight, to clean up the saw table and the slider I just pull the wand from the blade guard and go to work.
