    Car mount for iPhone

Our iPhone mount, one of the sticky/vacuum types, has finally decided to quit. I don't want one that mounts to the windshield and don't want one that is a permanent mount - I typically only use the mount for longer trips. Have been looking at vent and CD slot versions. Any suggestions or comments?
    Regards,

This is perfect timing for the thread. I just bought a CD mount from Amazon and it works great. It's the kind that has a magnet on the mount and a thin circle of metal that adheres to the back of the phone or in my case I put it on the back of the phone case. I travel all of the time and like to see the maps as well as incoming calls without fumbling for the phone.

That was going to be my suggestion as well. I'm using an RAM X grip with a suction cup mount to the windshield, but they have a bunch of different mount options available mix and match.

My wife and I have imagnet mounts and they work great. They attach to windshield or dash. Super easy in and out of the car.

Professor Dr. SWMBO is using a magnetic mount that clips to a vent in her Outback and it does the job. I have a more permanent mount in my Grand Cherokee Summit as I travel a lot for business and don't prefer blocking a vent or the vehicle's screen.

My favorite one. I've had it for over a year and it works great.

    Curious

Is there anyway the magnet could effect the phone or the phones battery???

No, they are fine to use with phones and designed to be used with phones. The downside to magnetic mounts comes if you keep any kind of close fitting case on the phone...some magnet systems are thin enough to go inside the cover, but some are not.
