    Photo Plate

Wanted to do some different things with turned plates. Here is a 10 inch diameter cherry plate ~1 inch thick that I turned with a top recess to accept a black & white metal photo image digitized from a 60+ year old family slide. The first image on left is top of plate before adding round photo metal plate. Finished with three coats Minwax Antique Oil finish then buffed with Beall wood buff kit.

  2. Tom, that is quite a nice turning! Great idea for a display piece. I think your choice of wood, and the design features [beads, recesses] make this a fine piece. Kudos!

Neat idea! I like it. Where did you get your photo plate made?

Very nice. I really like it. Never heard of a metal photo image like you used but find it interesting.

    Appreciate the positive feedback.

Ref "Where did you get your photo plate made?" http://www.mtlphoto.com/ Worked out options and specifics with them via email/phone ... very pleased with the end product.
