    Stanley sweetheart blade

Anyone know what the plus mark is on this scrub blade.I haven't seen enough sweetheart blades to know if it's common.

Might have been a center mark, in case they were supposed to drill a hole there. Like for a block plane....

Possibly it is an X, as in "X marks the spot"? Now we just have to determine what that spot is.

I gave the Blade back nice and sharp to my friend he said its a 401/2 scrub plane so maybe the blade is marked for the 401/2.
I thought you would know Steve N.But that's okay we can't have all the answers.
    Thanks for trying.
    Merry Christmas everyone

Don't know the answer, IF I have had never seen that mark before.....

However, if it had had a 3 digit number stamped there, I could have told what year it was made.
