    Jet 1642 question

Could someone with the Jet 1642 make a measurement for me?
I need the center-to-center distance (front to back) of the foot pads
    Thanks

    Ralph,

I have two 1642s in my shop and when I measured with a tape I got two different distances, eyeballing the center. So I got out the 24" jumbo vernier caliper (the first real use I've had for it, thanks!) I measured from outside of bolt to outside of bolt and subtracted the measured diameter of one bolt to get center-to-center, to the nearest 1/64".

The oldest lathe measures 17-1/8" on both ends
The newer lathe measures 17" even on both ends

It's interesting that these measurements are different on different lathes.
Both of these are the 110v 1/5hp 1642, if that matters.
If you are building something for one not in hand you might want to allow for some variation.
