Breadboard Ends

I am fairly new to building furniture and wonder if you have any guidelines for the depth of breadboard ends on a dining room table? I am building a 40 X 108" walnut table. The boards are app 5 3/4" wide. I am looking at putting 3" breadboards on the ends with an app. 1.5" tenon. Do you think this will look ok or should I use wider breadboards?

Also, the top is 1.25" thick.

You should sketch it out and see what you think. I did a quickie drawing and I'd say 3 in. isn't too wide. I might consider going 4 in wide. I would do the traditional tenon arrangement and peg the tenons.
