    Laser engraving Braille

    Hello All

I am trying to Laser Engraved Braille on Rowmark ADA Plastic 1/16in thick. I am having trouble with getting the settings correct so that the ADA beads fit correctly. Should the hold go all the way through or just deep enough to hold the bead? Please help.

ULS actually has a PDF on engraving Rowmark ADA signs. File is on their downloads page,

I'll send it to you if you can't find it. PM me your email address or holler at ULS

Longtai 460 with 100 watt EFR, mostly for fun. More power is good!! And a shop with enough wood working tools to make a lot of sawdust. Ex-owner of Shenhui 460-80 and engraving business with 45 watt Epilog Mini18.

    Jacob,

The depth of the hole needs to be deeper and less than the diameter of the sphere to get a friction fit. A 0.062" diameter sphere fits a 0.059" hole that is about 0.034" deep.

I've been under the impression that to do braille 'right', the holes must be machine drilled to keep diameter and depth consistent enough for the beads...

    Kev,

Your right but it can be done to the tolerance required on a high quality laser engraver if you have the right software.
