    WTB: Drawknife

Looking for a draw knife 7-9" blade width, slightly curved with a flat back. Vintage type with laminated construction.

Needs to be in Ok shape, most importantly the back must be reasonably well kept and without someone having made a horror show of it.

    cheers
    Brian

Forgot to mention in my post, looking for fixed handles rather than folding.

Have you looked at the Barr drawknives? The quality of those will be exceptional.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm looking for a vintage tool specifically because I want a laminated construction, all of the new ones I've seen are cut from sheet stock, the Barr has a forged bevel but that still doesn't quite do it for me.

Reason being I don't like to sharpen these with a grinder and so I find it easier to maintain a flat but curved bevel when its laminated.

There's nothing quite like that sweet spot when the cast steel edge is hand-honed just right. Makes even oak a pleasure to pile shavings from.

Have you checked with Patrick Leach? He possibly has what you are looking for. Google "Patrick Leach tool list".

Thanks for the help with this from those who replied. I'm having difficulty finding exactly what I'm interested in, so I plan instead to have a new Japanese Draw knife made.
