I am currently staining a tabletop with a classic gray oil based stain for a friend. I used BB ply for the top bordered with cabinet grade pine. I have applied one coat and want to darken the border a shade of two darker.
My question is can I mask off the table without damaging the stain?

Probably not. Re stain the edge accurately using a rag. The tape will react, and/or the stain will bleed under the edge of the tape. Cheers
