    Mystery Rest?

    Does anyone know anything about this rest? There are a couple of stickers on it that show "Al Basham"

    Looks like a home made version of a Jamieson hollowing rig. It is the capture for the "D" bar.

    I did a google search and Al Basham apparently used to manufacture/sell hollowing systems.

    You would use this tool with an outrigger stabilizer and also a tool rest close to your work piece. The system will give you 3-points of support. Twisting forces will be absorbed by the outrigger.

    Scrub it down with oil and steel wool to pretty it up and give it a try.
