    Overlapping Caninet Doors

I'm building a 36" X 7' storage cabinet. I do not want to add a center divider but a 36" door is too wide. Two 18" doors would be better but I'd like not to have gap between the doors. My attempts to find suitable plans for building overlapping doors has not been very fruitful. Can someone here me point to something? I think I want raised panel doors and I generally know how to make lap joints for gluing and I assume the technique is similar but I am guessing there are other considerations for a proper fit. TIA.

Simplest way to eliminate a gap between paired doors is with an astragal - just a molding applied either inside or outside the doors. Attached to one door only.

Next to come to mind is a 'lap joint', with a rabbet on inside/outside of respective doors.

I dislike both, because you have to now shut the doors in proper order . And one EVER does this (except angelic me).
