(I hope this is the right subforum)

I found an opportunity to buy what I believe is a "new old stock" Wilton 8201 wood/metal cutting bandsaw. The owner is asking $500. I've been looking for a 14" bandsaw for a while and had been leaning towards a Jet or Grizzly 14" model like the G0555.

As I understand it it's the same as the Jet 8201 bandsaw. I'd like to do some resawing, curve cutting, etc- nothing specific, and this is for hobby use.

It looks like this model is about twice the cost of the wood-only bandsaws when new, and would theoretically allow me to cut metal if the need ever arose.

Are there any reasons to go for a wood only bandsaw as opposed to a wood/metal combo bandsaw? I can't tell a lot about the blade guides and I wonder if that might be part of the difference between wood or metal.

Thanks for any tips.
