    Ceiling Fan box on I-Joist

    Anyone ever mount a ceiling fan to a I-Joist? Not a whole lot of wood there so I was wondering how secure it would be.

    I have only mounted a light fixture, and it was between the beams using a box that has expandable supports that effectively push against the beams. I believe they are rated to hold a ceiling fan, but you'll have to check.

    Consider a board mounted between that joist and the next one to mount your ceiling fan box.
