It is made for that bench (Sjoberg Elite) with 1" diameter dog holes in a top that is about 3-1/2" thick.

Yes, that's an important point...there are only a couple of dedicated holes for that particular clamp in the Sjoberg bench (I had one before getting my Noden Adjust-a-Bench). There are a number of alternatives available today if you want an actual clamp as well as traditional hold-downs. I honestly get a lot of mileage out of my hold-downs, even in assembly work, not just when working components on the bench.

The most expensive tool is the one you buy "cheaply" and often...
