    Studley Royal Garden Centre Sign

I don’t get to post very often due to time constraints, so thought I would pop up a couple of pictures of a recent sign I did: Two sheets of foam laminated together with a sheet of 3mm stainless steel sandwiched in the centre that give the sign weight and also forms the hanging loops, text carved in 10mm and gilded with 22c extra thick loose leaf, edge painted with 1 Shot metallic gold:

    John,

    Nice job on the sign.

Did you also fabricate the sign post? It look s like it leaning in the picture.

    Thanks Keith.
The sign post is from the previous sign and was concreted in, simply repainted, so no changing angles. Funily enough, it stands out more in the picture than in real life.
The son of the owner of this garden centre has an agricultural engineering/metal fabrication workshop, so he makes these posts, sign brackets etc and we get to scratch each others backs on jobs

I like it. When I was a kid always loved to see gold leaf and paint. Don't see it much now. Good job ...and good idea on

    Hi Mel,
The open sign stretched my abilities no end.... I have a run of signs in the next few weeks so was going to do a little extra ‘open’ sign for these folks using the left-overs, no skin off my back for good customers
