    Duxbury in Crossville

Yesterday evening Jim Duxbury was in Crossville TN ( http://www.cumberlandwoodturners.com/ ) for a demo. Lots of tips and ideas. The guy is suffering from an overdose of creativity!

If you haven't seen his work it might be worth a look:

I liked looking through his kaleidoscope with lights inside so he could use opaque bits as well as translucent. I bought his DVD - if anyone is interested I can post my impressions later.

  3. We had Jim at Woodturners of the Virginias a couple years ago.....quite a variety of turnings he brought to show, including the kalidescope and many others. He did a great demo......I know why you enjoyed it, John!

Jim is creative on a multitude of levels, there's no question, but what I find so impressive is his dedication to teaching that which he does. He carries all sorts of props that are not part of his demo, but are visual examples of the tools and concepts he's teaching. That's a gesture of respect to his audience that many demonstrators lack.
