    pressure sensitve veneer

a question on psa veneer. when staining psa veneer which is better solvent based or water base. Don't want any reaction with the adhesive. Also what is the best prep for bare wood substrate before applying psa veneering. Thank you all.

Steve, you might ask Joe Woodworker your questions as he seems to be very knowledgeable concerning veneer and sells PSA. I wouldn't have thought it would make a difference as the penetration of the dye is going to be quite shallow. In terms of prep - PSA on bare wood is rated as poor on the Veneer website I buy from http://www.joewoodworker.com/veneeri...ked-veneer.htm although excellent on bare plywood (strange)

Use either but you can't drown it with hydrocarbon solvent dye without it affecting the adhesive. This means you have to be very accurate with staining to avoid shadows on adjacent surfaces as you will be working a bit drier than ideal. Cheers
