    Saw set question

    Question:

I bought a hammer saw set off that big-time auction site. Got it all cleaned up with the saw stop able to move and the hammer set swinging. I have a question about what the hole here under my index finger is for.

If anyone has an idea, that would be great.

I am curious, why a hammer saw set rather than a Taintor .

I have one and it is a pleasure to use.

    Check the auction site.

Mine has spring in there. It protrudes up about 1/4 to 3/16 inch.

Because I love a steep learning curve? :-P

Seriously. . .I'll probably look into other saw sets. For now, though, I'm just building the saw sharpening tools. My 5 1/2TPI ripper was dull as all get out, so I got a dozen 8" Swiss Grobets, a saw vise, and this saw set.
