I lucked into a piece of hard white maple log a few months back and turned two hollow form vases. The maple did not have much grain and seemed quite plain so I decided to try to dress it up a little with some wood burning.

Most of the maple I have turned is pretty plain as well, unless I get lucky and find a piece that has spalted.
You turned a nice piece into something spectacular, great job!!
Very nice work on these pieces Tom.

I like what you have done with them.

Wow, I'm a huge fan of your embellishments, but also of the form of your vases. They look really sharp.

Very nice. I agree maple can be an excellent candidate for enhancement, but often does not give good shading like cherry does. For me it tends to go to black too quick.
Nice design and crisp lines, although I find the first one a little over-whelming in the proportions of the area covered with pyro.
