What about shop cats?
Kurt, Kurt, Kurt. We can see you are going to be a problem, perhaps some outlaw blood in the stream? Rules say - no sharpening threads period. Shop cats and photos thereof are perfectly fine.

I hate it when you guys make me spit perfectly good burbon on my keyboard!
"Purrfect" - classic!
This is how you sharpen a pencil

Welcome Kurt, where do you live (roughly speaking)? I am in the middle of Ohio.
Welcome, Kurt!
Note that the prohibition as described by multiple posters above is against "starting sharpening threads".
Note also that nobody has said anything about hijacking existing, tangentially related threads and turning them into sharpening holy wars, which is not only legal but is in fact a near-universal SMC practice (just check the archives and you'll see what I mean).
So with that in mind, what is the one and only valid, true, and best sharpening system, that was handed down by the Superior Ancient Woodworkers (tm)(r) on Guaiacum sanctum tablets?

Please. Only 2 mm lead holders should be considered. And it's not called sharpening, it's called "pointing".

Good one. My pencil "pointing" method as well Steven C.

Hey Steve, do you then "hone the point" on your jeans like you do your blades until they are wicked sharp?
I use a strop motion.....once or twice to re-do the point...
