1- measure tumbler diameter
2- multiply by pi (3.1416) example, 3.6" dia = 11.31"
3- make your work height the result (I'll use 11.31")
4. Divide work height by 4. In this case, its 2.827"
5- Put 3 horizontal guidelines at 2.827" increments (2.827, 5.654, 8.481). You now have your work area split into 4 quadrants.
Note that the the top and bottom of the work area is the same place on the cup, which you want to be straight up, facing the sky.
6- If the cup has a logo, mount it in the rotary with the logo straight up.
7. The middle guideline is exactly half way around the cup. If you're engraving only one item, locate it on this guideline, then it will be
exactly opposite the logo when you're done.
8- if you're putting 2 items on the cup, locate those on the top and bottom guidelines, and those engravings will be opposite each other, with the cup logo in between...
9- IF you want to split everything equally, then instead of dividing the work height by 4, divide by 3- in this case the guidelines would be at 3.77" and 7.54".
Starting with the cup logo straight up, place your 2 items on the guidelines, and then the cup logo and your 2 engravings will all be exactly 1/3 around, 120° apart...

This is a visual rep of my explantion above. The dimensions I used are
basically for THIS cup. The cup is drawn near actual size in the layout.
This layout is what works in my LS900. Note top left corner, my layout size
is 18 x 13.11 - 18" is my rotary's max length and I always use it, less confusion for me-
The left guideline is where the top of the cup is when in the rotary,
the right guideline is 8-1/2 farther, the approx height of the cup.
The horizontal guidelines are placed as noted above. In normal I only use the 1/4 turn
distances but here I added the 1/3 turn guidelines.

it's real easy, and with a pic of the cup in the layout, takes a lot of guessing out of
placing the logo where it looks best and the size...
