Finally Done with a Project - White Oak and Mahogany Coffee Table

I moved my shop to our new house over 2 years ago and it has taken me FOREVER to get my shop semi-organized and actually get this project across the finish line. The white oak top came from a very large, very old, and very diseased tree (see pic) that was taken down when we built our new place. I wanted to preserve something from the tree, so I had the crew save a slice for me to use in a project. I did a really poor job of drying the slab as it obviously checked and split a lot, but I suppose that is character and also gave me an opportunity to play with butterfly splines. The splines and the base are made from mahogany. Although lengthy it was a fun and challenging project, and I hope the table will live on our front porch for many years to come.
