Malwarebytes-is it an anti virus program?

Is Malwarebytes an anti virus program or do I need to have an anti virus program in addition ?

I believe the free version only protects against malware not virus type problems. The pay version may offer more protection.

I believe that even the newest version of the paid product is not an antivirus. The paid version does offer more protection than the free, but neither of them looks for virus. You need to run an antivirus program, too.
