    Spalted Holly

This was turned from a dry blank during an informal wood-turning meeting at my shop Friday. The outside was done by a friend and I hollowed it. Sanding and finishing (lacquer) happened afterwards. It is 10" dia X 8" tall. Some turquoise is visible in the picture and there is more on the bottom. Comments and critiques are welcome.

Beautiful piece! Love the grain. The turquise filler is a nice touch!

Super nice wood and workmanship. Does the rim thickness carry throughout the piece ? What do you use to hollow ?

Super as usual for Dennis--where do you keep this wood?

Friday start to Sunday finish sounds like very short time for that quality piece with inlay added. Very nice wood and finish. The curve going up to the opening seems to have a flat or something that catches the eye and does not look like a gentle continuous curve might be a minor issue. A piece to be proud of for sure.
