Need help with compound miter saw.

I am trying to help my brother here. He has a saw with a 12" blade that cuts very rough on the right side of the blade and really smooth on the left side of the blade.

He said the put a fresh carbide tip blade on it that was professionally sharpened. Everything seems aligned and tight.

Any ideas on what might cause this to happen?

    Thanks

Is he cutting mitres ? That one thing that can do that.

Is he holding his stock with the left hand? Often guys will do this then lift the still spinning blade back through the cut allowing the loose piece to vibrate into the blade.

I've watched them sharpen those. Possible that only one side got sharpened. Clean it up and get some magnification on it.
