Dust collection sewer pipe to flex connections

A frequent question on DC installs is the problematic connection of sewer (ASTM 2729) to flex pipe. Here's how I did it.

Cut slots into the end of the pipe.

Tighten a band clamp at the bottom of the slots to pinch the end together.

The end is now just under 6".

Slide the flex on the pipe.

Remove the band and wiggle the flex down to cover the entire slots.

Put the band over the flex and Bob's your uncle!

    Works on 4" too.

Well done. I have seen folks use a torch and the band-clamp to squeeze the end but, I see the slots as not problem and probably a bit quicker. I don't have any conversions to hose other than at blast gate locations so, for me the gate is the adapter. I will keep this in mind though as who knows what the next modification or addition will require. Thanks!

Stuff a non-gasketed union connector for spiral pipe in the end of the pvc, slip your flex over the other end.

    Done.
