    Necklace Tree

    Hello,
I'm pretty happy with how this turned out..... learned a few what not to do's along the way.
Red Alder scraps I had hoarded

One big issue was the bandsaw blade I used (believe it's a 1/4 6-8tpi???) ..... made for a lot of saw marks that took a very long time to sand and file out of the nooks and crannies
Stands about 8" high, so could be a bit taller but then the over all scale would have been bigger....

Not as beautiful as other people's stuff but my daughter likes it
    Hope it gives others ideas

I love it. All the handwork after sawing was worth the extra effort.
Rustic? Well, no. That was not my intention!

Vince, I really like this piece. Creative, pleasing design that is well executed. I think that a more curvilinear form for the base might have complimented the "tree" form better, more like the tree is emerging rather than displayed like a deer head, but that is just my design sense and not gospel by any means.

    thank you for posting- Bill

Thanks David.... I think with a different band saw blade I could have reduced the extra effort.....

Thanks Bill, I agree with the base comment but I must have used up all my creativity drawing the tree LOL.
I tried thinking about shape ideas for the base..... alas the best that came to mind was the grain flow from the tree to the "pool" in the grain.
Stability was also weighing on my mind as my daughter is 7

Would love to hear some ideas on a better form for the base

+1. A very nice look that's also practical!
I agree with Bill that a different base would make it even better, but I love what you did here, regardless.

Beauty is judged by the person receiving the gift. Looks good to me. Gold is heavy if it's out on the far limbs it may need that base.
