Bottom panel is 1/2" thick Poplar. Corner joints are Tongue & groove glue joints, done with a Stanley #45
2 coats of Amber Shellac, 1 coat of clear gloss poly. 1/2" thick Cherry panels for the sides of the box. Panels were all "raised" using a hand plane.
