    20w fiber laser did what?

To all who keep insisting that a fiber laser CANNOT do this, please watch this video and tell me it cannot be done... this was done by a 20 w fiber.

Kind of what I asked in another thread. What wattage would be needed to not warp?

It also looks like the aluminum is what, just a little heavier than paper? I will try it with my 20w tomorrow just to see if I can score it as deep.

Not gonna lie, I love that video. I'm curious though how long they tested that until they got it right.

    I'VE never said a 20w laser couldn't do that!

But, y'all DID notice the pieces had to be snapped off? Not a big deal really, but it means the aluminum was only cut about 1/2 to 2/3 the way thru. Actually cutting all the way thru is a trick due to slag melting back into the kerf. Note also that the user allowed some cool-off time for before each subsequent pass to prevent melt-back and warping...

some people will buy such stuff- every 2 years since I got the LS900 I make 300-600 alder veneer business cards for a customer. He was having them made for years before he found me. He says 'I give paper to potential customers, I give these to customers. They never lose them.'

I Cermarked some titanium biz cards for the owner of a travel agency once. Between the machine shop and me she paid $11 each for 'em. Only seen her one time

Neat item to be able to make & sell to the few who want them...

I have cut through stainless steel with my 20w fiber laser - a razor blade. Anything will cut through just about anything given time, look at the Grand Canyon.
